Around Pirbright
Pirbright has a main setttlement in the village centre around the Green with outlying settlements at Fox Corner, Stanford and West Heath. Pirbright Camp, which was established by the MOD in the 19th century, lies to the north of the railway line.
Much of the surrounding area is commonland with heath and woods on sandy soil, criss-crossed by streams, including the Hodge and Stanford brooks that merge in the Fox Corner Wildlife area in the south of the parish before joining with the Hoe Stream. The Basingstoke Canal follows the line of the railway to the north. To the east is the Brookwood Cemetery, with entrances from Dawney Hill and Cemetery Pales. Brookwood Station is accessible on foot via the Cemetery.
Pirbright's neighbouring villages are Brookwood and Bisley to the north, Normandy to the south-west and Worplesdon to the south-east.
The Ash Ranges can be accessed via Pirbright and there is a 24 hour hotline to report serious problems if you see them: 01420 483405.
The MoD have produced a short YouTube video called Respect The Range which can be viewed here:
